The “Roots” project is an 18-storey timber high-rise building in Hamburg’s HafenCity. A total of over 180 apartments were built here, as well as exhibition rooms and the administration of the German Wildlife Foundation. The insertion of the first modular timber elements was particularly interesting during the construction phase. This required the utmost precision and great craftsmanship on the part of the workers.

City Nord, built as an office district in the 1960s, is developing from a monofunctional quarter into a mixed-use district. The Ipanema building project is providing a strong impetus in this direction. While retaining the basic structure of green solitary buildings, rental and owner-occupied apartments as well as office and small-scale commercial space have been created here.
